After converting to Baptist Christianity and his ordination as a minister, Rosen still considered himself a Jew: "You can say I'm a nuisance, a Christian, out of step with the Jewish community, but you can't say I'm not a Jew." He founded Jews for Jesus in San Francisco in 1973, and led the group for almost 25 years. A the time of his death in 2010 the group had chapters conducting outreach in ten nations, including Israel.


[1] Obituaries at the time of his death indicate birth in Denver, but by Rosen's own account, he was born in Kansas City and his family moved to Denver when he was aged two. See Rosen and Proctor, Jews for Jesus (1974), page 15.
