COMPANY

Founded as the Union Oil Company of California on 17 October 1890 in Santa Paula. Formerly owned the Union 76 brand of filling stations, sold to Conoco-Phillips. In 1983 the company was restructured under a holding company, Unocal. It merged with Chevron in late 2005.
