Mercenary firm founded in 1996 by former Navy SEAL and fundamentalist Christian Erik Prince. Received no-bid contracts from the Bush administration in Iraq, Afghanistan, and post-Katrina New Orleans. Changed its name from Blackwater USA to Blackwater Worldwide in October 2007. In 2009, Prince resigned as CEO, and the company renamed itself Xe. Subsidiaries include Paravant LLC.
