Founded in 1959 as Ja-Ri Corporation by Jay Van Andel and Richard DeVos. Renamed Amway (for "the American Way") in 1963. Since 1999 Amway has been a subsidiary of the holding company Alticor, which operates Access Business Group, Amway Hotel Corporation, Nutralite, and Quixtar.
