Review by Billy Bud (posted on 26-Jul-2008)

Exploitation at its very best with plenty of first-rate, giggly T & A. (The “naked virgin chainsaw dance of death” is not to be missed!) There are murders galore, all of them hilarious. By the way, it’s the johns who are offed in a variety of amusing ways, most of which should satisfy splatter fans. Features Linnea Quigley who can’t act a lick but is a joy to watch. Add to all this a surprisingly funny script and “Chainsaw” earns five stars for happily hitting every exploitation button. I can‘t believe this good-natured little horror-film parody has yet to make it to DVD; though that is about to change on 8/5/08 with the release of a 20th anniversary edition. For those who just can’t wait, VHS copies can still be found in the dark and dusty corners of a few video rental joints. (You can catch more of Linnea Quigley in “Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama,” which deserves an honored place in the Movie Title Hall of Fame, but the flick isn’t as much fun as “Chainsaw.”)
