ABSTRACT
In a world where the Greek gods are alive and well and feuding with each other like bitter relatives, Zeus meets Poseidon at the top of the Empire State Building, accusing the ocean god's demigod son, a seemingly ordinary sixteen-year old boy named Percy Jackson, of stealing his cherished master lightning bolt. When Percy, who is unaware of the specifics of his heritage, is attacked by an otherworldly creature known as a "Fury" disguised as a substitute teacher at his school following Zeus's threats to start a war over his missing lightning bolt, he is informed of his true identity, drafted into action to prevent the gods' realm from collapsing into all-out chaos.
