Film adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks novel of the same name follows a soldier's tumultuous romance with a college student in a time of war.

ABSTRACT
John Tyree, a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army, meets college student Savannah on spring break in Charleston, South Carolina after rescuing her purse from the water. Falling in love with each other over the next few weeks with a planned view to starting a life together after John's expected exit from the Army, the couple's mettle is tested when John decides to re-enlist following the September 11 attacks, ultimately resulting in Savannah's settling down with next-door neighbor Tim, an emotional episode between John and Savannah upon the former's return to America, and an exploration of the pressures of military romances in a time of war.
