REVIEWS Review by anonymous (posted on 21-Oct-2006) This is not history, this is the film version of George Bernard Shaw's play and it is both glorious fun and a melancholy evocation of the legendary title characters. These figures could not have been as charming as Shaw, Pascal, Rains and Leigh make them, but what they make of them is engaging and unforgettable. Even though seen on a blurry television broadcast, the color in this production is rich and helps to create mood. A good DVD version would be magnificent. This is old-style moviemaking, shot not on location but on what are obviously studio sets, but who cares? The characterizations are fresh and surprizing; this is one of movies that Claude Rains should be known for.
