Review by Bappa Chatterjee (posted on 24-May-2005)

Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam is an accurate prtrayal of the situation in Calcutta in 1895. The film was excellently presented. Every sequence has been well planned and fits perfectly. The acting of Guru Dutt (Bhootnath), Chhoti Bahu (Meena Kumari) as well as other characters are just perfect. This film is one of the best films I have ever seen. The dialogues, music, lyrics are all rich.

If westerners understood Indian emotions and lifestyle, they would have given this film an Oscar.....
