An unassuming teenager is transformed into a vampire after an unfortunate run-in with a peculiar freak show ringleader.

Everyday teenager Darren hears tell of a traveling freak show while in the company of troublemaking best friend Steve, eventually crossing paths with ringleader Larten Crepsley. An ill-fated altercation with Larten and his strange spider transforms Darren into a vampire; forced to join Larten's Cirque du Freak, he unknowingly breaks a lengthy truce between "regular" vampires and rival Vampaneze, sending him into action in a bid to prevent a cataclysmic war from transpiring.
