Review by movie fan (posted on 18-Jun-2005)

Andaz Apna Apna is the greatest comedy of all time. Rather it's the greatest Hindi comedy of all time. This movie does not attempt to do anything but be funny. It does not have a single moment of drama, sentimentality, crying, etc. etc. It's nonstop comedy.

The story is about Amar (played by Aamir Khan) and Prem (played by Salman Khan) and their wacky adventure in trying to win the heart of a beautiful, young, rich girl Raveena (played by Raveena Tandon). Amar and Prem are both good for nothing. Amar's father is a barber, and Prem's old man is a tailor. Both fathers are fed up of their sons. One fine day, and one same day, Amar and Prem discover that Raveena is arriving from London. They start on their love journey and end up sharing seats in a bus.

Everything is smooth sailing till they discover that both are after the same girl. A fight ensues, each trying to better the other. Somehow both manage to get into Reveena's house. Also present is Raveena's equally beautiful secretary Karishma (played by Karishma Kapoor). Who will win over Raveena? Who will be stuck with Karishma? That is what we discover, laughing senseless along the way. AAA is a cult movie. My generation, people who are 20-25 today, have grown up watching AAA, once, twice, thrice, ten times. So if you're an Indian who speaks Hindi, you've probably already seen AAA. If you're not an Indian, do the following:

  • Rent / Buy / Steal a Andaz Apna Apna DVD
  • Make sure the DVD has subtitles in your language.
  • Laugh your stomach out for two and a half hours.
