The Quest (19-Apr-1996)

Director: Jean-Claude Van Damme

Writers: Jean-Claude Van Damme; Frank Dux; Steven Klein; Paul Mones

Keywords: Action/Adventure, Martial Arts

New York Pickpocket Chris Dubois flees to Europe, and after making himself unwelcome there, finds himself prisoner on a oceangoing vessel. He is "rescued" by one Lord Dobbs, who then sells him to a Muay Thai martial arts trainer. It turns out our pickpocket is an excellent fighter, and he quickly masters the new martial art. At this point the adventure film becomes a fighting film. Lord Dobbs shows up again, and together the two of them connive to have Dubois enter the renowned Ghen-Gheng tournament, and attempt to steal its prize, a golden dragon. While enjoyable, the film is very much a hodgepodge.
