Film adaptation of a true-life memoir tells a tale of a group of children growing up in the Urka community of Transnistria.

Deep in a long-forgotten corner of the former Soviet Union lies Transnistria, a blighted "breakaway state" locked in a constant fight for its independence and recognition by the United Nations against parent state Moldova. There sits the Urka, a lawless group of people resistant to the norms of the outside world who find their tortured story told through the eyes of children struggling to thrive in Siberian Education.
