22 January 1879, one day after the massacre of 1200 British soldiers by Cetshwayo's Zulu army, a company of Welsh soldiers numbering less than 140 fight an onslaught of 4000 Zulu warriors at Rorke's Drift in Natal Province during the Boer War. Commanding the British are Lt. John Chard of the Royal Engineers (senior officer, lacking any combat experience whatsoever), and the aristocratic Lt. Gonville Bromhead. Breathtaking and suspenseful, Zulu is a largely accurate telling of one of the most remarkable battles ever fought, the defenders earning eleven Victoria's Crosses.
