Seventeen years ago young orphaned Martha Ivers killed her wealthy aunt in a fury after that aunt had killed the girl's cat, an act witnessed by her tutor's son, Walter O'Neil. Using blackmail leverage, Martha has been manipulated into marriage to his son by Walter's father, but someone else may have also witnessed the murder. Received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Story.
