The Pilot (1980)

Director: Cliff Robertson

Writer: Robert P. Davis

From novel: The Pilot by Robert P. Davis

Music: John Addison

Keywords: Action/Adventure, Alcoholism, Aviation

Former cropduster and veteran commuter pilot Mike Hagan harbors secret alcoholism; Hagan is fully aware of his problem and struggles to keep it under control. Very realistic cockpit scenes filmed in a vintage 1961 DC-8 show what it is like to be a pilot probably better than any other film. Cliff Robertson, who starred and directed, was a licensed pilot. Originally intended title was The Alcoholic Commercial Airline Crop-Dusting Pilot.
