A white-collar Manhattan couple thrown into turmoil by sudden unemployment decide to try out life in a hippie-dominated rural commune.

George and Linda Gergenblatt, a couple living in a micro-loft in modern-day Manhattan, are forced to vacate their residence and head out to George's brother's house in Georgia after sudden failures in life and unemployment make their present standard of living untenable. Implored by Linda to make a stop off the highway at what the pair believe to be a bed and breakfast on the way down, the couple end up settling in for a new and decidedly weirder chapter in their lives.
