Eccentric inventor Caractacus Potts restores a derelict motorcar, now called "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" for the noises it emits; he and his two moppet children Jeremy and Jemima picnic with the pretty young scioness Truly Scrumptious. There, Caractacus spins a fantastical tale of the four adventuring with their flying car in the fantastical distant land of Vulgaria, ruled by the tyrant Baron Bomburst. The film's title song received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song.
