Last Tango in Paris (14-Oct-1972)

Original Title: Ultimo tango a Parigi

Director: Bernardo Bertolucci

Writers: Franco Arcalli; Bernardo Bertolucci; Agnès Varda

Music Composed by: Gato Barbieri

Producer: Alberto Grimaldi

Keywords: Romantic Drama, Tango, Controversial, Kinky, France

Marlon Brando is Paul, a middle-aged American expatriate in Paris whose wife Rosa committed suicide; Maria Schneider is Jeanne, 20-year-old Parisian beauty engaged to be married. They meet randomly in an empty apartment-for-rent, and negotiate a relationship based on Paul's terms: sex only, with complete anonymity. Denounced as obscene on release; Harry Reasoner called it "pornography disguised as art." The controversy seems silly now. Received Oscar nominations for Best Actor and Best Director.
