After running into the hot-headed D'Artagnan and finding themselves forced to fight off soldiers attempting to arrest them for illegal dueling when the young man challenges them to fights, however, the four men unite as an unlikely band of vigilantes, determined to vanquish the nefarious Richelieu after hearing tell of his plans to undermine King Louis XIII's reign and potentially start a pan-European war.
