REVIEWS Review by roselandpete (posted on 1-Oct-2005) When I was a kid, I used to go to as many of the the teen beach movies as I could -- Dr. Goldfoot & the Bikini Machine, How to Stuff a Wild Bikini -- yep, I saw all the classics. I saw GYACG about 40 years ago when I was in the 6th grade and the only thing that I STILL remember about it was Mary Ann Mobley (MAM) singing the title song -- some memories just stick with you. At the time, I didn't know that she was a former Miss America, but I immediately became a MAM fan.
Fast forward about 35 years -- I accidentally saw a special about the Miss America pageant. Much to my surprise, MAM was in it. MAM not only had an interesting story about how she came to enter the pageant, but I could easily see how she won that year. She had a gutsy surprise performance that was a knockout and her runway walk as Miss America is not to be missed. I remember seeing that walk on TV several times but I didn't know who it was.
I just finished watching her appearance in the Man from UNCLE episode titled "The Moonglow Affair." If you're a MAM fan, just get this movie. If you're a teen beach movie fan, just get this movie. I'm going to have to get this movie on DVD -- it's been 40 years since I've seen it which is way too long.
