Review by Daubi Piccoli (posted on 29-Apr-2007)

I watched this movie when I was a young boy, in 1979 and it get me impressed at all. In that time the issue about sexuality wasn't an openly subject as today. But, the most important to understand it is try to report to the 70's and its pseudo-freedom times. The people weren’t free, but crazy. Today, this movie wouldn't provoke any kind of reaction as the same way that the Mountain guys one. Perhaps, some guys in 70's got lots of laugh when they watched it, but they couldn't even say it was out of reality. Well, the guys in the movie meet each other to celebrate Harold’s birthday and they had a prejudice about the 30 years old, when, they say, if you didn't get a boyfriend yet you probably wouldn't get it anymore. Nowadays, the guys, boys and girls, gays or straights have date until the thirties and so on. They just think about 'marriage' after this age. The most interesting about the scenes was the fact that a simple presence of a straight guy provokes an enclosure never seem and even the most serious guy (gay) try to get a straight conversation with his old fellow as he wasn’t also gay. The strange situation spoils the most ‘gay’ part of the party, which begins is very amusing and became boring, sad and fatal. I think that a young gay nowadays would laugh a lot of that situation, because he lives in a new world since he was born and can’t imagine that someday the world could be so enclose, even in the country side of the countries, except those ones where the extremist religions command of course. Even though, I think that the movie should be seem and commented between those ones who wants to write about a history of the old gays way of life when they were young and live without the AIDS ghost, but also without show themselves as they would like, as the young ones do nowadays in the Gays Parades all around the World.
