ABSTRACT
Hank Deerfield, war veteran and present-day truck hauler based in Tennessee, receives word that son Mike has gone missing at Fort Rudd in New Mexico after returning from a tour of duty in Iraq, reported as Absent Without Official Leave. Mystified, Hank -- a former military investigator -- sets out to New Mexico in search of answers, working alongside sympathetic detective Emily Sanders to separate fact from fiction and uncover depressing truths about war's devastating impact on the human condition. Nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor.
