Based on the Yann Martel novel of the same name, Life of Pi tells the story of how sixteen-year old Piscine Molitor "Pi" Patel survives a shipwreck that kills the rest of his family through an emotional bond with a surviving Bengal tiger, told within the frame of an older Pi relating his story to the real-life novelist. Won Academy Awards for Best Director, Best Original Score, Best Cinematography, and Best Visual Effects; nominated for seven others, including Best Picture.
