A high school teacher creates a role-playing game for his students to teach about totalitarianism, producing unintended consequences.

Rainer Wenger, unorthodox high school teacher in modern-day Germany, creates a role-playing game for the purposes of teaching his class about totalitarian systems of government. The class project, innocuous enough in its infancy, soon takes on a life of its own as the students involved begin to take their roles recalling old Nazi Germany a bit too seriously, producing a terrifying movement called "The Wave" that Rainer must somehow find a way to contain.
