A dysfunctional family reunites on the family plantation for Big Daddy's 65th birthday celebration, which will be his last. His son Brick steeps himself in alcohol, visibly detesting his wife. The other son, Gooper, while having structured his life in anticipation of inheriting the plantation, is clearly not Big Daddy's favorite. Received Oscar nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor and Actress, Best Cinematography, and Best Screenplay.
