A drink-addled old man's belief that he has won a lottery takes him and his son on a long-distance trip.

ABSTRACT
Woody Grant, an emotionally-challenged alcoholic old man, falls under a belief that he has won a million-dollar magazine sweepstakes. To that end, son David agrees to drive him to Nebraska to claim his supposed winnings, launching the pair on a quixotic road trip as they seek to work past some of their long-standing personal differences on their way to the heart of the Great Plains. Nominated for Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Cinematography.
