An aristocratic master of the Wing Chun martial art is forced out of his home in Fo Shan, a legendary martial arts city, during the Japanese occupation. Desperate for food he is forced to seek employment, all the while trying to keep a low profile. Most particularly he avoids fighting Japanese Army General Miura. But his defense of his friend's factory from bandits calls attention to his location, and he can avoid no longer. Almost completely fictionalized account of the life of master Ip Man, who relocated to Hong Kong after WWII and became an instructor there.
