Mr. Brink, acting for the Grim Reaper, arrives to claim the soul of Gramps Northrup, guardian for his grandson, young orphaned Pud. Gramps plays a trick on Mr. Brink and death personified is confined to the upper reaches of a backyard apple tree; nobody can die, including those that suffer. Adaptation of the Broadway play, which lasted 321 performances in the 1938 season.
