Weeks before the end of WWII, Nazis would like to destroy the last bridge over the Rhine, at Remagen, but only after as many retreating German troops can cross. War-weary Americans, initially intending to destroy the bridge as well, decide that the bridge should be captured intact. Properly cynical and gritty, with strong performances. Filmed in Czechoslovakia on the Vitava River; during production, Russians invaded the country to overthrow President Dubcek.
