A man gripped by severe short-term memory loss looks to use notes and tattoos to solve his wife's murder.

Told in two distinct fragments moving chronologically forwards and backwards, Memento tells the story of Leonard Shelby, an ex-insurance investigator suffering from debilitating anterograde amnesia who must rely on a series of vague tattoos and notes to investigate, and hopefully solve, the mysterious murder of his wife.
