ABSTRACT
Walter Goodfellow is a well-intentioned yet hapless vicar in the English country town of Little Wallop, so obsessed with crafting the perfect sermon and keeping up appearances that he loses sight of his own family's troubles; daughter Holly suffers through a series of unstable relationships, son Petey is the resident whipping boy at his school, and disaffected wife Gloria courts an extramarital affair with American golf teacher Lance. The Goodfellow family's decision to hire the whimsical Grace Hawkins as their housekeeper changes everything one fateful day, as she sets about fixing all the troubles in their dysfunctional lives while keeping their home nice and tidy.
