ABSTRACT
Set in a universe parallel to our own ruled by "The Magisterium" where humans possess souls shaped like animals, The Golden Compass follows the story of Lyra Belaqua, a young orphan and Jordan College student who sets out to rescue best friend Roger one scary day when he is kidnapped by evil creatures called "Gobblers". Granted a magical golden compass capable of revealing "truth" in any and all situations that await by Jordan College's vice chancellor, our hero sets out on a magical journey to uncover and undermine a vast conspiracy subjecting Roger and countless others to experiments conducted by a shadowy organization.
