ABSTRACT
Jason Tripitikas, a Boston teenager obsessed with all things Chinese to a fault, happens upon a peculiar ancient staff of unknown origin during one of his countless trips to a pawn shop owned by the kindly Old Hop. Attacked by a band of mysterious gangsters on his way home from the shop and ordered to turn back, Jason arrives and manages to escape with the staff on Old Hop's orders just before his friend is shot; after falling from the roof of a building on his way out, Jason is swept into a wild quest to break the mythical Monkey King from a terrible curse and restore glory to his besieged land, staff in hand.
