ABSTRACT
Mary, an overly protective American interior designer, loses son George to malaria after taking him on an extended vacation to Africa. Returning to the disease-plagued continent after her son's funeral, she meets Martha, a British housewife who lost her only son to malaria during the course of employment in a Mozambique orphanage, uniting with her in an unlikely partnership that sees the pair traveling the globe and ultimately testifying before a Congressional subcommittee in support of malaria awareness.
