Across 110th Street (19-Dec-1972)
Director: Barry Shear Writer: Luther Davis From a novel: Across 110th by Wally Ferris Keywords: Crime, Blaxploitation
REVIEWS Review by Darrell Clark (posted on 11-Jun-2007) Misclassified by some as a blacksploitation film, this was a great gangster flick. Tony Franciosa's portrayal of a mafia Don rates with some of filmdoms all time greatest psycho villains. Richard Widmark pushing an old lady in a wheelchair down the stairs, Lee Marvin as Liberty Valance, Steve Buscemi in Resevoir Dogs, Darth Vader, and Phil, from the Sopranos. I saw the film in New York City in a re-release, at a "working man's movie theater" (three movies for the price of one), on 42nd Street. When Tony's charecter got killed, the whole movie audience got to their feet and cheered. Great movie, vastly underrated.
