ABSTRACT
Tom Stall, a mild-mannered, unassuming diner owner in the Middle American town of Millbrook, Indiana, becomes a local folk hero after foiling a robbery attempt at his place of business by picking off the burglars with chilling precision. Transformed into a media darling overnight, Tom's act soon carries unfavorable consequences for his life and his family's safety, leading his children to confront their own problems with similar measures of violence and sending Tom into an emotional tailspin after a gangster believing him to have past ties to the mob begins to stalk him.
