Adapted from the 1991 Larry Brown novel of the same name, Joe is an arthouse character piece following the life of Joe Ransom, a hardened ex-convict living in the Deep South trying to keep his head above water despite his ingrained urges to do otherwise. Life changes in an unexpected way for our man with the arrival of Gary Jones, a fifteen-year old lost soul whose lack of guidance shapes Joe into an unlikely protector.
