Gregory Peck is Robert Thorn, US Ambassador to the United Kingdom. His wife's pregnancy ends with a stillborn fetus; without telling his wife, Thorn persuades the doctor to substitute a child whose mother died during childbirth. As the boy Damien grows, deaths start to occur; after investigation it becomes very clear that Damien is the Antichrist. Won Oscar for Best Original Score, and received a nomination for Best Original Song. Spawned three sequels and a remake.
