The Age of Innocence (17-Sep-1993)

Director: Martin Scorsese

Writers: Jay Cocks; Martin Scorsese

From novel: The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton

Music by: Elmer Bernstein

Producer: Barbara De Fina

Keywords: Romantic Drama

Newland Archer, a young man in 1870s New York society, has just been engaged to May Welland, a safe and proper choice. He meets May's cousin, Helen Ollenska, a countess recently arrived from Europe, and seems to find a greater affinity with her individuality. Slow-moving drama (too slow for some), though every bit a masterpiece. Won an Oscar for Best Costume Design; received additional nominations for Best Supporting Actress, Best Screenplay, Best Set Decoration and Best Original Score.
