One Foot in Heaven (2-Oct-1941)

Director: Irving Rapper

Writer: Casey Robinson

Based on a book by: Hartzell Spence

Music by: Max Steiner

Keywords: Drama

Finding salvation at a revival, William Spence changes his vocation from medicine to become a Methodist preacher. During his working life, William, his wife Hope, and their children move from town to town in the American Midwest, roughly spanning the Progressive Era through the Roaring 20s. Warm and inspirational without being heavy-handed or preachy, though sometimes heavy on the sugar; received an Oscar nomination for Best Picture.
