Capt. Bligh runs his ship as a tyranny; Fletcher Christian is initially acquiescent to the situation, but as time passes and strains increase, he leads a mutiny against Bligh, setting the Captain adrift: "I'll take my chance against the law, you'll take yours against the sea." Christian's crew sails for Tahiti; Bligh is rescued and intends to avenge the disloyalty. Breathtaking performances in perhaps the greatest sea saga of all time. Won Oscar for Best Picture; received nominations for Best Director, Best Screenplay, three for Best Actor, Best Score and Best Editing.
