The Big Lebowski (15-Feb-1998)

Director: Joel Coen

Writers: Ethan Coen; Joel Coen

Original Music by: Carter Burwell

Producer: Ethan Coen

Keywords: Comedy, Bowling, Kidnapping, Marijuana, Los Angeles, Beverly Hills

The Dude's apartment is broken into and his rug, the one that ties the room together, urinated upon by thugs. But they weren't looking for The Dude (amateur bowler, real name Jeff Lebowski), but the other Jeff Lebowski whose wife owes too many people too much money. That Lebowski, the Big one, refuses to compensate for the rug's loss from untimely micturation. Smart comedy, brilliant Busby Berkeleian fantasy sequences, and more quotable lines than perhaps any other film.

The character of The Dude was inspired by Hollywood backstage player Jeff Dowd.
