ABSTRACT
Adapted from a script composed by legendary French director Jacques Tati and intended as a letter for his estranged daughter in 1956, The Illusionist tells the tale of Tatischeff, a downtrodden illusionist facing a steep decline in interest for his profession in late-1950s-era Paris who embarks on an unlikely new chapter in his life following an encounter with Alice, an impressionable young Scottish girl and fan who believes him to be a true-to-life magician.
