Founded by Adolph Ochs in 1878, and purchased by WEHCO Media, Inc. in 1998, the Times (a liberal paper) merged with WEHCO's The Chattanooga Free Press (conservative) to form The Chattanooga Times Free Press, later dropping the Chattanooga.
