While still in high school he had a tiny role in a short-lived prime time soap opera, Four Corners with Ann-Margret, which was cancelled after only three episodes had aired, and Valderrama immediately auditioned for That '70s Show. He had to try out four times to get the role that made him famous.
In movies, he played Macaulay Culkin's boyfriend in Party Monster, experienced the Day of the Dead literally in El Muerto, and he has signed to play the Erik Estrada role as "Ponch" in an upcoming feature film based on the TV series CHiPs. He also hosts MTV's insult contest Yo Mamma and voices the title character on Disney's cartoon for preschoolers Handy Manny.
During the run of That '70s Show Valderrama blossomed into a lothario, dating several of Hollywood's prettiest young starlets.
