AKA Elizabeth S. Grubman
Birthplace: New York City
Race or Ethnicity: White
Sexual orientation: Straight
Nationality: United States
Executive summary: Celebrity publicist and SUV-wielder
On 7 July 2001, after being told to remove her Mercedes SUV from a fire lane at a Hamptons club, Grubman, in a temper tantrum, backed the vehicle into the crowd at the club. She injured 16, and immediately fled the scene. Her subsequent indictment on 26 various counts brought the type of publicity that most publicists would rather do without. Her defense hinged on the claim that she didn't really know how to drive the $80,000 SUV, and somehow accidentally put it in reverse.
Her father, Allen Grubman, was long considered the most powerful attorney in the entertainment industry, so she grew up knowing superstars like Madonna and Bruce Springsteen on almost a first name basis. In 2006 she married marketing executive Chris Stern, after wooing him away from "a too-trusting now-former employee". They separated in 2010.
