MLB hitter, first baseman, and American League MVP in 2000. Placed on the disabled list in July 2004 after a benign pituitary tumor was discovered, returning to active play in September.

On 2 December 2004, The San Francisco Chronicle revealed Giambi's testimony that he used "undetectable" steroids for three seasons, and furthermore, those steroids were provided by Barry Bonds' personal trainer. He also admitted to injecting HGH, human growth hormone. The testimony was given for a case against Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative (BALCO).
