No criminal record or recorded history of mental health issues, though described by neighbors as a "recluse." He frequently played Guitar Hero. Holmes' application to join the Lead Valley Range, a gun club in nearby Byers, was rejected after the management listened to his outgoing voicemail message and found it "bizarre."
