Executive summary: Filmmaker, took on McDonald's

Morgan Spurlock is the filmmaker who chronicled an entire month of his eating nothing but McDonald's cuisine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the documentary Super Size Me. During the course of the 30-day shoot, Spurlock gained 24 pounds, his serum cholesterol level rose 40%, and he nearly developed non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver.

According to its creator, the movie's impact was felt almost immediately: "Six weeks after [the film debuted at] Sundance they announced they were doing away with Super Size options, but that it had nothing to do with the film whatsoever."
